Who?

The course 'Sadness: what can you do about it yourself?' is for Turkish or Arabic-speaking Dutch people who have stress and gloom complaints and want to learn to deal with this better.

Course content

In this course, a lot of attention is paid to the relationship between psychological and physical complaints and the possible causes of the depressive symptoms. Then skills are discussed and practiced to be able to relax better and live healthier.

The course consists of 4 or 6 meetings in which the following themes are discussed:

  • Dealing with gloomy feelings or stress
  • Pain and physical complaints
  • Positive thinking and assertive behavioural style
  • Relaxed

Practical information

Course Duration: The course lasts 6 weeks. Every week there is a meeting of 2 hours.
When: New groups start several times a year.
Group: 8-10 participants
Cost: Free
Target audience: Adults with a non-western background
